Molasses Crinkles

1 cup packed brown sugar
¾ cup shortening
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
2 ¼ cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
½ teaspoon cloves
¼ teaspoon salt
Combine brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg.  In another bowl, add all dry ingredients.  Stir all together.  Refrigerate 1 hour or more.  Make into balls.  Roll in sugar.  Bake 375 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes.
